Must Be Tackled Now Tags: government elected officials

 

Understanding the urgency of not letting a crisis go to waste, President Obama has decided that now is the time to pillage the Second Amendment. Using the Sandy Hill shooting as a catalyst he is demanding that gun control “must be tackled now.” But his track record of expeditious action on our nation’s pressing needs leaves a lot to be desired.

Did he say that securing our borders, having the Senate pass a budget, and paying down our national debt must be tackled now? Did he say that balancing our budget, reducing the size of government, controlling government spending, and initiating regulatory reform must be tackled now? Did he say that job creation, ending pork barrel spending, welfare reform, becoming energy independent, and ending the inflationary practice of printing money must be tackled now?

The President’s propensity for pompous proclamations portends perilous partisan politics. President Obama’s insatiable thirst for power and control fuels his agenda. Not one life will be saved by making citizens less able to defend themselves against well-armed predators. “Fast and Furious” proved that government is not concerned about citizens killing other citizens. But government trembles at the thought of a well-armed citizenry fighting a tyrannical government. No law will ever make a moral citizen commit a crime and no law will ever make a criminal follow the law.

The President’s last four years have left a path of economic and moral destruction. He has divided our nation, pitting citizen against citizen, and government against the private sector. The least qualified person ever to assume the office of the Presidency continues to lecture us on how we must lead our lives. It is the need to stop our President and his Cabinet leading us down the path of tyranny and ruination that Must Be Tackled Now.

Quo Vadis Tags: government elected officials

 

Back in the 1950’s Hollywood produced a movie starring Robert Taylor, Deborah Kerr, and Peter Ustinov titled “Quo Vadis”. The title is Latin for “Where are you going.” The moves chronicled the reign of Nero. Nero ascended to power and threatened to destroy Rome’s previous peaceful order. It is a study in conflict between Christianity and the Roman Empire.

Nero’s atrocities became increasingly more outrageous and his acts become more outlandish. Nero had a vision of a new Rome and decided to burn Rome and rebuild it in his own image and likeness. He blamed the fire on the Christians and condemned them to be killed in the arena. Once the mob realized it was Nero that caused the burning of Rome they turned on him. Nero subsequently took his own life.

Our nation is experiencing a tyrannical reign not unlike that of Nero. A god like figure has appeared on our national scene vowing to fundamentally change our nation. His is figuratively burning down our institutions and our values, remaking them in accordance with his grand vision of a new nation. He is attacking and blaming Christianity proclaiming we are not a Christian nation. Through forcible mandates in health care reform he is forcing Christians to act contrary their beliefs.

Like Nero, in his insatiable thirst for power and control, President Obama will one day have the people turn and him and render him powerless. An electorate, unwilling to study history and learn from history will soon repeat it. The stories of corrupt fallen empires populate the pages of history books. As with all would be dictators we must ask President Obama the question: Quo Vadis?

Fair Share Tags: taxes government

 

If we have heard it once we have heard it a thousand times from our President, “The rich need to pay their fair share.” “Rich” is the Liberal word for “Hard working successful taxpayers.” It is but one of many lies being told about successful people as President Obama continues to engage in class warfare. The mainstream media has been complicit in these fabrications.  

The facts are: the “rich” pay far more than their “fair share” The top 1 percent of tax returns paid 39.9 % of all federal individual income taxes. That means the top 1 percent of tax returns paid about the same amount of federal individual income taxes as the bottom 95 % of tax returns. The top 10% pay 68% of the income tax. The bottom 50%, those below the median income level, earn 13% of the income, but pay just 3% of the taxes. Twenty percent of the middle class pay only 4.4% of the income tax and the bottom 47% pay no income tax.

It is astounding that the bottom 47% that pays no Federal income tax is saying that the top 1% that pays almost 40% of all Federal income tax is not paying their proper portion of taxes. The fact is: progressive income taxes penalize and discourage successful people. The harder you work and the more successful you become the more you will be penalized.

The idea of a progressive income tax was repugnant to our founding fathers. The Fourteenth Amendment provides for equal protection. When Congress passed another income tax in 1894—one that only hit the top 2 percent of wealth holders—the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional. Stephen Field, a veteran of 30 years on the Court, was outraged that Congress would pass a bill to tax a small voting bloc and exempt the larger group of voters. At age 77, Field not only repudiated Congress’s actions, he also penned a prophecy. A small progressive tax, he predicted, “will be but the stepping stone to others, larger and more sweeping, till our political contests will become a war of the poor against the rich.” In 2012 that prophecy came true.

In 1913, almost 20 years later, the ideas of uniform taxation and equal protection of the law for all citizens were overturned when a constitutional amendment permitting a progressive income tax was ratified. The tactic of divide and conquer may be successful as a political strategy but fails as an economic strategy. Higher taxes decrease revenues and progressive income taxes discourage success and investment in our future. A dictatorship that claims to represent the people now determines what is our Fair Share.

 It is no coincidence that, as our worldwide educational rankings have plummeted from number one to number 23 and 24 in math and reading we have become a nation of politically uneducated citizens. As the cost per student has soared the academic credentials of our students continues to plummet. Our public schools have become indoctrination mills and day care centers.

Students exit the public schools little if any understanding of the workings of our government or its history. They do not understand the Separation of Powers, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the concept of limited and defined power of the Federal government. They are taught to despise capitalism, to rebuke the successful, and to embrace the welfare state.

They are taught that our rights come for our government not God, that religion represents a threat to the government. They are taught that the states derive their power from the Federal government rather than the converse.

The latest election confirmed our worst fears. As Mark Twain once said, “If you don’t read the papers you are uninformed and if you read the papers you are misinformed.” We are now a nation that is both uninformed and misinformed. Voters chose to reelect a President with most abysmal record in our nation’s history. Rather than display an ability to study the facts and exhibit the skills of critical thinking, they chose their candidate based on 30 second sound bites.

We have become a third world nation of political illiterates. We have traded in our intellects and our morals and become a nation of sheep led by a self-proclaimed Messiah. This last election put on display, for the world to see, the Dumbing Down of America.

Thank You Tags: government Constitution bureauracy

 Let me be the first to thank Democrats and Liberals for the reelection of Barack Obama. Thank you for an additional $10 trillion in debt, for continuing trillion dollar deficits, for continuing high unemployment, for the loss in personal income, and for soaring energy prices.

Thank you for crushing new taxes, for a health care bill that people didn’t want but were forced to join, a bill that will increase our premiums, deny our choice of doctors and medical plans, institute death panels, fund the killing of unborn infants and contraceptives, and cut Medicare by $716 billion dollars.

Thank you for the increase in food stamp recipients, families in poverty, people on long term unemployment, and generational welfare. Thank you for insuring the bankruptcy of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, for drastically increasing school funding as academic scores continue to plummet. Thank you for continuing the greed, corruption, and amoral conduct of our politicians, for increasing the size, scope, and cost of government.

Thank you for the continued destruction of our individual liberties and personal responsibilities, for increasing burdensome regulations, creating a toxic business environment, for partisan politics and class warfare, for telling us we are not a Christian nation and removing our right of religious freedom.

Thank you for making our nation and the world less safe as you continue to gut our military, for shunning our allies and embracing our enemies. I apologize if there is something I have failed to give you credit for. Just to insure you that I am not ungrateful, let me once again say a sincere Thank You.

The Death of America Tags: government Constitution entitlement regulations

 Ronald Reagan said that, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” He also said that, “We are indeed, and we are today, the last best hope of man on earth.” Mitt Romney was in fact the last hope for our nation to be returned to our founding principles and our Constitution. This generation will witness the extinction of what was the greatest and most prosperous nation the world has seen.

Mitt Romney made the case for individual liberties and personal responsibility. He challenged people to use their God given abilities and their freedom to pursue their dreams to become successful contributing members of society. He talked of American Exceptionalism and love of God and country. He is a man of deep personal conviction, unquestionable morals, an enviable record of success both financially and personally, and a man with a long history of selfless public service.

We are witnessing a nation consumed with greed and self interest, a nation that has abandoned God and worships at the altar of government entitlements, a nation more obsessed with being served than serving, a nation more concerned with receiving than giving. We are a nation more content with sitting on the wagon than pulling the wagon.

We will little note nor long remember our Declaration of Independence or our Constitution. Alexander Tyler said that the life cycle of a democracy is about 200 years. We are well past that time. As surely as history has seen the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, we will now experience the Death of America. 

The Only Adult Tags: candidates government conservatives

 Biden’s performance in the Vice Presidential debate was predictable. After a lackluster performance by President Obama in the first Presidential debate, Biden was given the responsibility of reenergizing the Liberal voting base. If that was the goal then he had a degree of success.

What the voters expect and deserve is an honest and respectful debate of the issues. Paul Ryan presented the facts and debated the issues in a respectful and engaging manner. Only on a few occasions did he interrupt Mr. Biden to correct his misstatements. Paul Ryan had a command of the facts and was more importantly in control of his emotions. His behavior was professional and reassuring.

Vice President Biden behavior was demeaning, insulting, and rude. His constant interruptions, smiling, and laughing left us wondering if this is the person we want to be just a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Mr. Biden’s lack of self-control and his immaturity did not reflect well on either his age or his experience. His apparent overcompensation for the President’s timid performance requires us to question his judgment.

Votes may debate the accuracy and truthfulness of Ryan’s and Biden’s statements but what is indisputable is: of the two debaters, Ryan was The Only Adult.

Endowed by our Government Tags: government Constitution entitlement regulations

 

The Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness -- That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed”

 The rights endowed by our Creator have been replaced with rights determined by elitist politicians. They have given us civil rights, human rights, patient’s rights, consumer’s rights, animal rights, enemy combatant’s rights, passenger rights, parental rights, illegal aliens’ rights, the right to remain silent, the right to privacy, the right to speak to an attorney, a woman’s right to choose, and the right to terminate the life of an unborn infant.

 They have also given us the right to food, clothing, shelter, a formal education, health care, legal advice, privacy, laptops, cell phones, child care services, transportation, medicine, and welfare.

 These same politicians have given themselves the rights to benefits not available to all of its citizens, freedom from accountability, pork barrel funds, unlimited power, disdain of the electorate, and perpetual powers of office.

 Government has become the new God. They determine life and death, good and bad, rich and poor, success and failure. Rights once endowed by our Creator are now rights Endowed by Our Government.

Democrats have been the self-proclaimed champions of the poor and defenders of the helpless. The very label of Liberal implies a person with an open mind, a person willing to listen to other points of view. Liberals are people of good intentions not necessarily good results.

But are Liberals really open minded? Liberals love the poor as long as vote Democratic. They love women as long as they vote Democratic and men as long as they vote Democratic. They love Blacks and Hispanics as long as they vote Democratic.

They love union members, teachers, policemen, firemen, blue collar workers, white collar workers, and Wall Street Investors as long as they vote Democratic. They love the rich, the movie stars, sports figures, corporate executives, doctors, and lawyers as long as they vote Democratic.

But there will be hell to pay if you are a Conservative and vote Republican; just ask Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Meg Whitman, Allan West, Herman Cain, Condoleezza Rice, and Marco Rubio among others.

If a Liberal finds a particular act of behavior offensive they will not only refrain from that behavior but they demand all others refrain from that behavior. They believe their doctrine of elitism and superiority not only allows but requires them to impose their world view on others. Their platform denies freedom of choice, the foundation of our Constitution and a democratic society. Can the Democratic Party, in good conscience, call themselves the Party of Inclusion?

The Party That Bod God Tags: freedom of speech government individual liberties

 Just when we thought that the Democratic Party could sink no lower and had run out of groups to demonize they upped the ante. They decide to go after God, yes, that’s right, go after God. With a compliant submissive media at their backs they feel no power on earth and apparently no power in Heaven can stop them.

They removed the mention of God and the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel from their platform. What it did was expose their fanatic atheistic view of our nation, a nation founded on Judeo Christian values. Our President has already proclaimed that we are not a Christian nation and has realigned the primary goal of NASA as a Muslim outreach. He ignored our traditional national day of prayer while embracing a Muslim holiday observance.

Only after realizing that might have stepped in it did they seek to amend their platform. But that could not be accomplished without ever further controversy. When a roll call of ayes and nays was called, seeking a 2/3 majority, it was obvious that the nays exceeded the ayes by a clear majority. After three roll calls with the same results, the chairman read the preordained results on the teleprompter.

A party, out of ideas and devoid of morals, jeered when both God and Israel were put back in the platform. If ever there was a reason to leave the Democratic Party this was it. Cult followers that have drunk the Kool Aid should start smelling the coffee. The Democratic Party Convention was indeed memorable. Democrats will be remembered as The Party That Bood God.
