They are lawmakers, party officials, volunteer activists, and civic leaders. Some are small business owners. Others are bankers, lawyers, farmers, first responders, homemakers, real estate professionals, doctors, mechanics, stock brokers, consultants, educators, and builders.
Among them are a former U.S. Senator, a former State GOP Chairman, the current President of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association, and the Illinois Editor of GOPUSA..
Three of them will be sworn in later this week as new members of our U.S. Congress.
There are veterans of our military, and moms and dads who recently sent sons and daughters off to war.
While at least one saw the birth of his first child this past year, another recently lost her battle with cancer.
Some are relatively new to political activism. Others have been working in the trenches for years.
But the one issue that has brought these 450 Republican leaders together is their support of real elections and SB600.
There is no legislation pending this legislative session with as much broad support as SB600. Yet there is one man standing in the way of its passage this week: House Minority Leader Tom Cross.
We hope you can take a few minutes to call Tom Cross’ Springfield office at (217) 782-1331 and insist that SB600 be brought to the House floor for a vote THIS WEEK.
A phone call is the single most effective tool, but if you are pressed for time or prefer to email, you can reach Tom Cross at tom@tomcross.com.
If Tom Cross hates Republicans and accountability so much – that’s fine – he can vote “no” on SB600 again. But he should at least be a man and stop the games that are preventing an up-or-down vote on the floor of the House.
And while House Speaker Mike Madigan has already demonstrated he won’t stand in the way of SB600’s passage, you might also want to call or email him to voice your support. You can reach Madigan’s office at (217) 782-5350 or by email at mmadigan@hds.ilga.gov.
Finally, if you would like to add your own name to the list of over 450 leaders standing up for the right to vote and for a better Illinois Republican Party – just email Doug Ibendahl at dibendahl@mail.com.
We have until January 11th to get SB600 passed in the House. After January 12ththe whole process has to start all over again in the Senate.
Let’s get it done!
