The Patriot of the Year Award is given to those who have shown remarkable dedication and committed service in preserving and promoting conservative values.
Congressman Joe Walsh has followed through on the promises he made to the people of the 8th district in the 2010 campaign. Joe refused his congressional health care and pension and sleeps on his couch. As a Congressman, he sits on the Fix Congress Now Caucus in the House which is leading the charge for the passage of the "No Budget/No Pay" Act, prohibiting members of Congress from being paid if they do not pass a balanced budget. He has cosponsored several bills that would overturn Obamacare and that give patients - not the government- more say in health care decisions.
Congressman Joe Walsh introduced legislation to amend the Constitution of the Unites States to include a Constitutional Amendment that requires Congress to pass a balanced budget every year. He has also sponsored legislation to renovate and enhance Veteran's meeting halls and posts.
In one of his most important roles, he sits on the Small Business Committee and introduced the Small Business Protection Act, which prevents small businesses from being lumped into the same categories as larger business by the Federal Government.
